Leading water safety specialists Nant Limited have overhauled its approach to people development and relaunched their training matrix which is designed to support people in reaching their full potential.
The training matrix which forms part of Nant’s people development strategy not only reflects essential people competencies to carry out their role, but identify skills required for progression as well as potential department resourcing requirements.
In addition to a departmental matrix, every person in the business will now have their own personal training matrix. This approach will continue to look at personal competencies such as communication skills, task competencies which highlight skills needed to complete the job, together with practical competencies such as professional qualifications, all in much more detail than ever before.
The benefit to the business will enable managers to take a birds eye view of their department and allow them to identify gaps, support with people progression and highlight any recruitment needs.
The matrix has been driven by Nant Technical Manager Andrew Edwards and People and Culture Manager Abbie Loveitt with a holistic approach throughout the business to ensure the relaunched training matrix is a continued success.
Nant People and Culture Manager Abbie Loveitt said:

“It’s been a great experience to get involved in the development of the training matrix. All supervisors have contributed, reviewed, and tested the framework to ensure it does the job.
“I like that we will now be able to have open discussions with people regarding their progression and can visibly see what steps they need to take to complete each competency. This could be an external qualification or spending time shadowing a field engineer to improve their knowledge of the business.”
