Water safety experts Nant hit right note by backing dementia entertainment tour for care homes

16th May 2022

A leading specialist provider of water safety services and products is stepping up support for people living with dementia by funding a tour by entertainers to care homes across the West Midlands.

Nant Ltd, whose clients include leading care home groups as well as well-known brands such as The Gym Group, the Café Rouge restaurant group and luxury hotel chain Harbour Hotels, is backing the Memory Café show organised with Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

Kicking off on Thursday (May 20), the shows by Miss Beth Belle will visit care homes around the region, entirely free of charge thanks to Nant’s support.

Miss Beth Belle is a vintage performer from the Midlands with a repertoire spanning from the 1920s to the 1960s which sparks memories among older people, including those with dementia. The shows have proved to be hugely popular with Grand Theatre audiences both in-person at the venue and online through digital performances streamed during the pandemic.

Nant stepped forward as sponsor for the touring show to visit 40 care homes as part of its wider work helping dementia good causes.

Technical Director Richard Deakin said: “As a leading Black Country business with strong links to the care sector, we are delighted to support the Grand Theatre’s Memory Cafe tour to entertain audiences and engage with people living with dementia.

“We have been providing ongoing support to a variety of good causes around dementia, including taking part in the March 100k dog walk sponsored challenge for Dementia UK, because we recognise the importance of their work. Having worked closely with the Memory Cafe team we know the difference they make for audiences at care and residential homes, helping with memory, speech and communication skills.”

As well as fundraising and sponsoring the Memory Café, Nant staff are being trained to be “dementia friends”, which sees colleagues who go into care homes learn about the condition and how to support people living with it, as part of the company’s ongoing activity.

Remy Lloyd, Outreach Manager for Access and Inclusion at the Grand Theatre, said: “The Memory Café provides many benefits for those living with dementia and their families and carers. The music and song provide a relaxing and enjoyable environment.

“We are incredibly grateful to Nant for their generous support, helping us to continue the hugely beneficial performances in care and residential homes this year.”

Through the Memory Café scheme, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre reaches approximately 140 people every month. The Café’s 2021 tour of care homes reached more than 2,000 people.

Established in 1994 to provide high quality Legionella control, Nant Ltd provides water safety services and products for clients across the UK. The company fundraises and supports local causes as part of its drive to give back to the community where it has been based for more than 25 years.
