Nant director takes on trustee role at Wolverhampton homeless charity

25th August 2023

Nant director Jamie Green has pledged his commitment to a charity supporting homeless and disadvantaged people in Wolverhampton by joining their board of trustees.

Leading water safety specialists Nant Limited have been longstanding supporters of the Good Shepherd, who offer free-to-access food and support services to end homelessness, support recovery and create pathways out of poverty for people in Wolverhampton.

Jamie will bring his wealth of business experience to the role, helping to guide and support the charity as well as raising the profile of the Good Shepherd in the community.

Nant colleagues regularly fundraise for the Good Shepherd, raising more than £1,000 in November 2022 for the charity and the Wolves Foundation by taking part in the Molineux Sleepout, which saw eight members of the Nant team sleep under the stars at the Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.

This year, the Good Shepherd are raising funds for their ‘Miles into Meals’ campaign, where they are encouraging fundraisers to take on a challenge of any description, whether it be running, walking, swimming or cycling. All proceeds from the challenge will be invested into their free-to-access food service, which in the first six months of 2023 has already seen a 27% increase in the numbers accessing it.

The food service is just part of the Good Shepherd’s overall delivery, which also includes support and advice around housing, benefits and welfare, as well as volunteering opportunities and a range of meaningful activities to improve mental and physical health.

The Good Shepherd’s CEO Tom Hayden commented: “Having good and professional governance is fundamental to a charity’s success, and, within that, the balance of skills and experience provided by the board of trustees is vital.

“From the first conversations with Jamie at the Molineux Sleepouts, his enthusiasm and willingness to try and support vulnerable people in the community shone through, and he had a keen interest in learning more about the Good Shepherd’s work.

“We were delighted that he agreed to come onto the board as a trustee, and his impact both during meetings and in separate conversations and visits has been both beneficial and hugely supportive.

“Jamie shares our values in terms of wanting to help people but also giving them a platform to show their strengths and abilities, whilst also having a wealth of business experience and community links which he has been able to share.

“The Good Shepherd is really appreciative of Jamie’s support, and the link-up with Nant, as we all work together to try and improve the lives of people experiencing homelessness and other complex issues across the city.”

Nant director Jamie Green added: “It’s an honour to be asked to sit on the Good Shepherd board of trustees.

“As a business based in Wolverhampton, supporting the most vulnerable people in the community is the right thing to do and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to use my experience and the support of the Nant team to make a difference.”
