In the latest installment of ‘Meet the Team’ we chat to Nant’s HR Manager Abbie Loveitt who talks about her first impressions of the business and her passion for mental wellbeing in the workplace:
Tell us about your previous roles?
Previously I worked for property investment business AWT Sourcing as HR, health & safety, compliance and conveyancing officer.
I joined AWT Sourcing in 2019 when the business was first established. As the business grew one of my biggest achievements was implementing from scratch, HR systems, policies and procedures for the entire business.
During my time there I completed my level 2 and 4 Human Resource Management Diploma where I achieved a distinction.
What were your first impressions?
My first impressions were positive. Everyone is very welcoming, supportive and excited to have me on board. Nant feels like a family, it’s an exciting business to be part of and I’m looking forward to the challenge.
What do you hope to achieve in your role?
One of the biggest areas I’d like to focus on is promoting mental health awareness.
I would like to become a mental health ambassador so that the business has someone trained and ready to offer support to colleagues. This is a really important area for me and will be a real asset to Nants benefit package.
Secondly I want to encourage more female engineers to join Nant. We need to start planting the seed with young females at school age so will be working with business partners to provide careers events, apprenticeships and school events to promote this.
What are your interests outside of work?
I was born in Coventry but moved to Cornwall when I was six. It was great to spend my childhood there rather than being in a big city. I moved back to Coventry when I turned 12.
I now live in Wolverhampton with my fiancé, we are busy planning our wedding. When I’m not wedding planning, I enjoy playing chess and taking walks with my Yorkshire Terrier Giles.
