Meet The Team: Client Liaison Officer Matt Price

17th February 2022

In the first of our series of ‘Meet the Team’ Nant’s Client Liaison Officer Matt Price talks about his role and why he enjoys working at Nant:

How long have you worked for Nant?

I joined Nant five years ago. I began as an engineer in the hygiene team, then moved into the risk assessment department. I then spent three years in the help desk team and then 12 months ago I moved to client liaison.

The various roles have been really beneficial as they have given me an all round understanding of the business and how we support each other and fit together.

What are the main responsibilities in your role?

No day is the same but essentially I work closely with clients to ensure they have compliant water systems. My day can vary between providing quotes, visiting clients on site, resolving issues and advising them on how Nant can support them.

Over the last 12 months the role has been remote due to covid. Now being able to go out and visit clients face to face is brilliant and a part of the job I enjoy.

The client liaison team work closely with the rest of the business to ensure clients businesses water systems run smoothly. We liaise with the help desk, engineers, risk assessors, plumbers and accounts.

What can be the most challenging parts of the job? How do you address these challenges?

One of the main challenges we face is that every client and water system is different. You can get 20 water systems that are all quite straight forward and then one will throw you which can be a challenge. However, there is so much knowledge in the team that if I can’t solve it, someone else in the team will be on hand to help. Collaboration is key!

What qualifications or training do you draw upon in the role?

No specific qualifications are needed for this role. When new employees join the business they undertake a water regulation and legionella course. A lot of the training is on the job.

What jobs did you have before you joined Nant?

I was a manager for Costa coffee for five years before joining Nant. I was looking for a change as I was working late nights, weekends and holidays and wanted more of a Monday- Friday role. I knew someone who worked at Nant who said it was a good place to work so I decided to apply.

“The more you know, the more equipped you are to help and support clients.”

What do you enjoy about working for Nant?

There are two reasons why I enjoy working for Nant.

The first is the people. There is a real family feel here which make it an enjoyable place to work.

The second is the feeling I get working with clients to prevent harmful bacteria in their water supply. I know am doing something worthwhile which gives me job satisfaction.

What is the work-related accomplishment in your career to date that you are most proud of?

For me, I’m most proud of getting this role as Client Liaison Officer and having the opportunity to work in this team. This has been the best part of it.

What is the best bit of advice you would give somebody starting at Nant?

Ask as many questions as possible when you join. Everyone here is knowledgeable, approachable and happy to help. There is a lot of experience in the business around the industry and water systems. The more you know, the more equipped you are to help and support clients.

What are your interests outside of work?

I’m very involved in my local church which takes up my free time. Other than that, I’m a Netflix addict. After lockdown I think I’ve watched everything there is. I enjoy the Harlan Coben series’ and box sets such as Stranger things.

What is the weirdest food you have ever eaten?

During French week at school I tried snails. They tasted better than I expected but I won’t be rushing to eat them again.

Tell us something nobody would know about you?

I was in the Boys Brigade when I was younger and had the opportunity to march in the Queens Golden Jubilee parade in London.
