Meet the Apprentice- Chelsea Dudley

It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2024 and we spoke to our very own apprentice, Chelsea Dudley to talk about her role, what her apprenticeship entails and what the future holds.

Role: Helpdesk Admin

Apprenticeship: Level 3 Business Admin delivered by In-Comm Training.

I joined Nant in July 2023 and began my apprenticeship in September 2023 with In-Comm Training. Previously I worked as front of house for the pub chain, Greene King but wanted to gain some experience in the corporate world whilst gaining a qualification.

What made you choose the apprenticeship route:

Originally, I wanted to study events management at university, however since starting my apprenticeship with Nant I feel like this route is the right fit for me. I enjoy learning new skills and wanted to gain experience in a business environment.

What have you learned so far?

I’ve learned so much about legionella and water safety! I’m fascinated by it and enjoy learning about the industry.

On a practical level my confidence has improved, I have learned telephone techniques, understanding how to deal with customer enquiries and working as a team in a corporate environment.

My apprenticeship supports my role and I’m able to apply the skills I’m learning in the classroom at work.

What have been the benefits of an apprenticeship with Nant?

Nant are a family business where everyone is looked after and feels supported. They are committed to learning and development and a big part of the culture is supporting others to progress, develop and reach their full potential.

As part of my apprenticeship, I have been able to experience different roles across the business. For example, if I want to spend the day with a plumber or risk assessor the opportunity is there and I believe that this has provided me with a broader understanding of the business dynamic.

We are a close, supportive team all working in an open plan office so it’s a great opportunity to understand all the different roles.

What do you hope to achieve long term/ where do you see yourself?

I am a very ambitious person and can see myself developing and moving through the business. I’m interested in looking at the various career paths open to me, especially marketing or HR, or even plumbing- who knows!

I feel really supported at Nant. Everyone is there to help one another, even the senior leaders, its great to be able to build relationships and feel like you can be open and honest.
