Earlier this year we received our Cyber Essentials certification as part of our on-going commitment to developing our technological systems.
Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed scheme designed to protect organisations against common cyber threats.
We caught up with our Software Engineer Trainee Adam Dolphin who led the project to find out what the certification means for Nant, our employees and customers.
What was the process like?
“The process was mainly about reviewing what we already have in place and checking it against the Cyber Essentials requirements. This covered things like access control, device security, keeping systems up to date, and protecting against common threats. It wasn’t just a tick-box exercise either, as it meant properly looking at how we manage and secure our systems and making sure everything lines up with the standard.”
What does it mean for Nant, employees, and customers?
“For Nant, it shows that we’re taking cyber security seriously and have the right controls in place to protect our systems and data.
For our employees, it gives some reassurance that the systems they’re using are secure.
For customers, it helps build trust that their data is being handled properly and is protected against common risks.”
Will anything change?
“There won’t be any major changes day-to-day, but it does reinforce the importance of good security practices across the business.
Things like using strong passwords, secure access, and being aware of potential threats will continue to be a focus. It’s more about keeping standards consistent rather than introducing anything completely new.”
